Design of Steel Rail

Steel rail is the basic bearing structure of railway track which is used to guide the locomotive vehicle and provides wheel rolling contact surface of least resistance at the same time. High quality steel rail must possess enough bearing capacity, bending strength, fracture toughness, stability and corrosion resistance performance. What’s more, the design of steel rail also should be considered while purchasing rails. Next are some AREMA recommended rail sections.
